It's been awhile

Wow, it's been a couple days since I posted, guess I've been busy  ;)

I started school on Monday. Boy getting up and being in El Dorado by 7:30am was a killer, but I did it!  First day class was kinda boring. Went over the rules, the entire class introduced themselves to each and so did the nursing staff. (that was nice) We were handed our lab kits for the semester. We have to keep them at home and bring in certain items we'll need for certain lab days. It contains, diabetic needles, regular shot needles, fake pills, a cath kit, and a wound kit. I had the bag sitting on the kitchen table when my kids and husband got home and they all saw the needles and asked (more like freaked out on me) if I had to practice on them. I of course being the sympathetic mother (sympathetic mother because I know how terrified of shots they are) told them YES, how else was I supposed to learn how to give non-painful injections!!! LOLOL  The look on their faces was priceless. I think my husband ran out of the room faster than any of them. I really don't and won't be practicing on them, I just wanted to see them sweat!!!  LOL  I'm sooo mean.

School got out at noon so the errand running began. Did that ill 2, then had to pick up Parker and Brandon from school at 4. You would think after all that my night would end?  HA NO.  Parker had a skating party that night too. So off the roller rink from 6 - 8, then home, showers and finally fell (literally) into bed at 9ish. Then that damn storm hit. I know we need the rain but could the thunder hold it down a little ;)  Woke at 3am with that and Parker running into my room scarred of the lightning (it's loud out here in the country no buildings to muffle the sound). Up at 5:30 and did it all over again. The only difference from Monday and Tuesday was instead of a skating party Tuesday night it was Cross country intros at Brandon's school.

Look at my little boo (Parker). He skates faster than the older 2 boys, LOL.  He moves so fast I had a hard time keeping the camera on him, lol  I guess if Bryan (17) would stop texting while skating he might do a littel better! TEENAGERS!

Lucky me today I get to do schoolwork at home. We have blended learning at Butler. That means we have reading, voiced-over powerpoint, and website learning to do and then go into class on Thursday and put into action what we learned. There is a TON of reading with this nursing stuff. At least 300 pages a week, I kid you not!  The older nursing class suggested we learn how skim read and read the summaries at the end of the chapters, then do the test questions. Whatever we get wrong or don't understand then go back and read about it. I am currently learning how to do this. We have about 100 pages that need to be read before tomorrow.

I am happy to say, I am fairly confident, that I now know how to write a nursing diagnosis? It may take me an hour to do it, but I can do it! So let's try it.  I'm sure many mom's out there are afflicted with this problem:

Uncontrollable happiness r/t kids going back school aeb uncontrollable laughing and dancing around the house

Today I am enjoying sitting here drinking a 1/2 pot of coffee and catching up on things. I still have running around to do and reading (big surprise) but I'll get to it.  I'll be having lunch with my brother too  :)

So I hope everyone enjoys their day or has enjoyed their day depending on when you read this ;)

GGGOOOOOODDDDDD Morning

Well today's the day!  I officially start nursing school.  Day 1 should just be filling out a huge amount of paperwork (so I've been told) and going over our 5" thick course manual (okay not 5" but definately 3").

Well that's a short post for now. I'll try and post later to let ya all know how it went.

HAVE A GREAT DAY  :0)

Hi there

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday, busy, busy, busy day.  O did I say my day was busy yesterday?  lol

My day started at 6am, no biggie for most people but me.....I'm a night owl!  Well not anymore. I had to be at CPR class at 8:30am - 5pm.  I took the class at Butler Community College, Russell Clark was the instructor and man he was tough but EXCELLENT!! I came away feeling confident that, God forbid, should anyone stop breathing or their heart stops beating around me or if they are choking I CAN SAVE THEM  :)  This does include children and babies.  I feel like I did an 8 hours marathon run. My legs hurt, my knees are killing me and they are black and blue, my shoulders and neck are cramped too. When I say we were on the floor most of the time, I mean it!  He is military so he ran the class like drills. Repetition, repetition, repetition. O I almost forgot I have rug burn on my elbows.

After CPR, which got done an hour early yea, I had nursing orientation in El Dorado, KS at 6pm. We got to meet the other people that we will be learning with for the next 2 years. I am happy to say I am NOT the oldest one in the bunch, lol. There is a very diverse group of men and women who will be learning, laughing, and cursing with me. lol  The orientation was okay, didn't really learn anything new, it didn't squash my fears. O well. I have a friend, Heidi (hi hiedi) and Michelle (hi michelle) that both promise me after the first few weeks of classes and clinicals I will find my groove and I'll be fine. They both assure me I will not fail, I will make through the entire program!  (from their mouths to God's ear and my brain)

After that long exhausting day, I went home and colapsed, litterally. I hit the bed at out I went. I can't remember the last time I was alseep at 9:30pm. Okay maybe I can.........but it was drugged induced after surgery so I don't count it, LOL

Today, I'm happy to say, was an almost uneventful day. I say almost because I got to see my friend Heidi (hi again heidi) and she got to see me  ;).  We had a nice chat for a couple of hours. I haven't seen her in a few months and it was great catching up.  We need to get together more often, she's such a blast!  Now tonight home and doin nothin. I might even just order pizza for dinner so I don't have to cook ;)

No big plans this weekend. I do have lots of reading and computer work to do for class on Monday and Tuesday and the usual housework but other than that NOTHIN!

Well that's enough babbling from me. HAVE A GREAT NIGHT

Oh My Goodness

as if my eyes weren't bad enough for reading.

I am now able to access my nursing course information online and let me tell ya the reading,  uuuuugggghhhhhh!  It's a least 100 pages a week, plus online reading, and online quizzes and such. I'm gonna be blind before it's all over, lol.  Don't get me wrong, I love to read, just not nursing books.  I enjoy the smut books, mysteries, stuff like that.  Thank goodness I have a good friend who's already been through the program that's gonna show me tricks so I don't have to read every single word!

Well it's been pretty quiet around here during the day, YIPPEE. I've enjoyed it very, very much. It all ends tomororw. I have CPR all day, then nursing orientation tomorrow night in El Dorado. I leave at 7:30am and won't be home till after 9pm. I'm gonna be one tired chickadee. Monday starts classes so I'll be there all morning and part of the afternoon. The kids get home around 3:30 so that'll give me 2 hours of peace and quiet (i'll enjoy it while I can)

Well short post today. Gotta go get hair cuts and some facial hair (that my 13 yr old made sure he pointed out to me in the Butler Bookstore, right in front of the girl checking me out talk about embarrased!) removed. Don't wanna look like some freak that belongs in a side show circus, lol.

Peace Out!

sssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...............................

do you hear that? What is that noise? What noise? Hahahahahahahaha the kids are all back in school and there is piece and quiet at my house. WOOO HOOO. Can ya tell I'm happy?

The kids got up this morning at 5 and 6 am with absolutely no problems (shock). They were all ready and waiting for the bus a half hour before it was even due! (again shock) I know it won't be like this for very long, :(. I think they were all a bit nervous but excited to be seeing their friends again. They even let me take pictures without complaining, that NEVER happens.

Brandon looking as happy as ever

Bryan he actually let me take a picture and he was looking at me!

Madison, I have no idea what the heck she was doing, lol

Getting on the bus

Goodbye Guys, have a GREAT first day!

Parker getting ready to go in

Parker walking into his school
Outside his classroom
Parker and Mrs Dreiling, his 3rd grade teacher
These were just a few photos I thought I would share. Parker was very nervous, I expect that to last about 1 hour, lol!

Since I have the house to myself today I think I'll do some baking. I have some bananas that are perfect for banana bread and a banana cake, YUMMY.  Too bad I can't eat any of it, o well it'll be a good after school snack!

After baking I think I might tackle some scrapbooking. Check back tomorrow to see if I actually did any scrapping, LOL

Have a peaceful day!

Have I ever told you........................

That I HATE shopping!!  I don't mean I dislike it, I actually hate it.  I would do almost anything not to have to shop. If I can go alone, get in find what I need and leave, then it's tolerable. But...........shopping with 3 kids and a husband drives me INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!

We ended up going to Towne West to get the kids some school stuff (have I mentioned I hate the mall even more?)  We started out at Penneys, shoes for Brandon for cross country were supposed to be on sale, they were, but they were completely out of his size. A size 9.5, can you believe it?  My 13 yr old wears bigger shoes than my husband!  :(  My husband decides to try and force him to buy a pair of shoes he doesn't like. Why on earth would he do that?  He knows darn well Brandon wouldn't wear them and we would have to listen to him whine about them for months, not worth it.  So I suggest we go to Finish Line or one of those "specialty" stores, my husband starts throwing a pissy fit, I'm not spending what they want for shoes, blah blah blah. I say "We'll just look."  ;)  Well it turns out Finish Line had a pair Brandon really liked, in his size (which happend to be a 10!) and they were the same price that Penney's was gonna charge!  HA!  All I can say at this point is MEN!!!

Now it's time to head to Payless for the other kids, BOGO A WONDERFUL THING. Well if you haven't been to Payless in a while, their shoes are expensive!  I mean I could go to Penneys or Sears and pay the same price and probably get better shoes, but with BOGO, it's worth it (I guess).  Madison found 1 pair, Brandon found 1 pair of everyday sneakers, and Parker hit the jackpot, LOL.  He found 1 pair for PE (yes he had to have a designated pair just for PE that we leave at the school) and he got a pair for everyday. $70.00 bucks later we leave Payless and head to Sears.

Sears was having this contest thing online. Tweens try on different outfits, you take pictures, load them onto the puter website and you could win different prizes, so Maddy wanted to do this. Let me tell ya, Sears' tween girls clothes SUCKED and not just a little, they had nothing absolutely nothing she liked. Parker did get a few shirts. We leave and head back to Penneys, after a brief 1/2 hours stop at Simply Elegant to buy me a new purse and wallet :)  Mama should get something pretty for all her aggravation!

one of the side pockets.  I love all the bling
Pennys' gave Madison a new outfit for school and Brandon a couple t-shirts he wanted. We were gonna get backpacks there but my God they wanted $50.00 bucks each. NO WAY! I also got a pair of white leather shoes for nursing clinicals only $30.00, not too bad.

Thank God the mall is over! After that we decide it's almost 8 lets get some dinner. We head to Town and Country, the boys start whining, I mean whining, we don't like their food, what are they crazy, who raised these boys?  So we head to Bertelli's, a pizza place on the west side. All I can say is mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm good. First time we were ever there, we will be back. The kids said it was the best pizza they ever had. I know my friend Summer (hi Summer) says Knolla's is the best, but since I haven't Knolla's Pizza in forever.........................Hmmmm maybe we should get a pie from each and have a blind taste test?????

We are finally home after 9 and into bed around 10.  What a hectic, busy day.  Sad part is we still have stuff to get, backpacks and a few supplies so off to the store again today :( We also have to go help my brother with some stuff around his house and dinner with him and mom. Sounds like a lot more fun than shopping.

So if you've made it this far, you now know why the blog is named Liz's Ramblings!  LOL

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Friday the 13th!

I love this day. Friday the 13th usually turns out to be a very luck day for me, let's hope it continues that way.

Well it's official, I AM OFFICIALLY A NURSING STUDENT AT BUTLER COMMUNITY COLLEGE, YIPPEE.. It was 5 or so years in the making but yesterday I went and picked up my books, scrubs, nursing id, and all the other stuff required. I start Monday the 23rd. I'm very, very excited and very, very nervous.

I was also pleasantly surprised, the books weren't as expensive as I thought. My most expensive book was $133.00. Now my stethascope on theother  hand, woo hoo, was $100, ouch. I got the more expensive one, the other was $65, because it was metal and I can have my name engraved on it so when it decides to take a "walk" I can prove it's mine. (I'm not that smart, the girl at the bookstore helped me out with that little piece of advise, lol)

Busy day today. Brandon has a dentist appointment and then we are finally going school shopping for the kids. (can we say procrastinator).  I have decided they only get new shoes and 1 new outfit for the first day; Their summer clothes are still in excellent shape (they spent most of the summer in their swimsuits in the pool), and of course new backpacks.  When the cooler weather gets closer then they will get to go and buy all new clothes. By then I'm sure Brandon will shoot up another foot, man that kid is getting tall. He's only 13 and already almost taller than me :(

Those are all my ramblings for today. Tune in tomorrow to see how the shopping went (wish me luck!)

HAVE A GOOD LUCK DAY TODAY
